Whole Family Taken To Quarantine Centre For Harbouring Border Jumping Relative

A family in Victoria Falls has been taken into quarantine centres for failing to report that its relatives had smuggled themselves into the country and had evaded the mandatory screening and quarantine procedures.

The Chronicle reports that all members of the Mlauzi family in Mkhosana suburb in the resort town have been taken to a quarantine facility where they will go through testing for Covid-19, and will likely spend the mandatory 21 days in quarantine.

Speaking on the development, Matabeleland North Provincial Social Welfare Officer Mr Macnon Chirinzepi said they had received a total of 12 returnees, 5 from Namibia, while one illegal immigrant from the same country was taken from Mkhosana. He added:

Another illegal immigrant from South Africa was found in Matetsi while two others were in Mkhosana in Victoria Falls.

The illegal returnees had evaded the quarantine process. The ones in Mkhosana had come into contact with their family being two males and one female local residents, who have also been brought to the centre.
