Twenty-eight (28) new COVID-19 cases were recorded this Friday bringing the total number to 265, the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) has announced.
In its daily update for 5 June 2020, MoHCC said all the 28 new cases are returnees from South Africa who are in isolation. The statement read:
Twenty-eight (28) cases tested positive for COVID-19 today. These are all returnees from South Africa and are all isolated.
Today 700 RDT screening tests and 598 PCR diagnostic tests were done. The cumulative number of tests done to date is 52 218 (31 218 RDT and 21 000 PCR).
To date the total number of confirmed cases is 265; recovered 33, active cases 228 and 4 deaths, since the onset of the outbreak on 20 March 2020.
MoHCC added that quarantining returning citizens and residents helps in the early detection of COVID-19 cases and prevention of local transmission of the disease.
