A 42-year old South Africa-based Zimbabwean woman, Fungai Nyamadzawo on Wednesday appeared before Magistrate’s court facing kidnapping, perjury defeating the ends of justice and murder charges.
This followed the death of her six-year-old daughter, Alexia Nyamadzawo, whose body was discovered in a sugarcane field on Tuesday.
Nyamadzawo had reported that her daughter had been snatched from the back seat of her car while she was driving in the area with her two children on Sunday.
She was arrested on Tuesday and was remanded in custody until June 10 for further investigation after her daughter’s body was found
Also in court was the woman’s husband, who was the child’s father.
South Africa’s National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Natasha Kara said no further details could be divulged at this point, as investigations are still ongoing.
