Zimbabwe's COVID-19 Cases Rise To 160

Zimbabwe’s COVID-19 cases continue to rise as 9 returnees from South Africa and Botswana and 2 locals tested positive for the virus on Friday bringing to 160 the total number of confirmed cases.

In its daily update for 29 May 2020, the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MoHCC) revealed that a total of 11 COVID-19 cases were detected from 2 346 RDT screening tests and 420 PCR diagnostic tests that were done. MoHCC said in a statement:

Eleven (11) cases tested positive for COVID-19 today. These include 9 returnees, Botswana (2) and South Africa (7) and 2 local cases who are all isolated.

Today 2346 RDT screening tests and 420 PCR diagnostic tests were done. The cumulative number of tests done to date is 46 613 (26 753 RDT and 16 860 PCR).

To date the total number of confirmed cases is 160; recovered 29, active cases 127 and 4 deaths since the onset of the outbreak on 20 March 2020.
