ZIMSEC Says 'O' And 'A' Level June Exams Are Ready
The Zimbabwe Schools Examinations Council (ZIMSEC) on Monday told Parliament that the June examinations for O’ and A’ Levels were ready.
The council said that it was waiting for the government to give a nod to the writing of the examinations.
Appearing before the Parliamentary Portfolio Committee on Primary and Secondary Education, ZIMSEC Director Mr Lazarus Nembaware said:
In the wake of COVID-19, Zimsec has been putting in place business continuity strategies to ensure production and processing of exams, but we were waiting for the government directive to deploy exams to schools, which is dependent on opening of schools.
We are waiting for the exact date when exams will start and we will be in a position to restructure the timetable.

The June examinations were slated to start on the 26th of May but were postponed due to the outbreak of the novel coronavirus that also forced premature closure of learning institutions in the country.
In a circular dated 8 May 2020, ZIMSEC director Lazarus Nembaware wrote to heads of examination centres, candidates, parents and stakeholders notifying them that the timetable had been moved by four weeks as a precautionary measure.
Meanwhile, the Minister of Primary and Secondary Education, Cain Mathema has hinted that schools opening will be in phases with exam classes getting first preference while Early Childhood Development (ECD) classes will be reopened last.
