Cabinet Meeting Postponed

Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Misheck Sibanda has said Cabinet has deferred its regular Tuesday sitting to Thursday, saying more pressing engagements have emerged. Sibanda said in a statement:

Owing to unforeseen circumstances, this week`s Cabinet meeting has been rescheduled to 09:00 hours on Thursday, 21st May 2020 at State House.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa was expected to host the SADC Organ on Politics, Defence and Security Cooperation for a one-day Extraordinary Organ Troika Summit of Heads of State and Government over the security situation in Mozambique.

President Mnangagwa, Edgar Lungu of Zambia, Botswana’s Mokgweetsi Masisi were expected to be joined by President Filipe Nyusi of Mozambique.

There are fears that an Islamic insurgency operating in Mozambique’s northern Cabo Delgado province could spill over into the country’s neighbours.
