A ‘war veteran’ from Manicaland has fumed over the insignificant groceries which the government is giving to liberation fighters to cushion them from the effects of the lockdown.
The unidentified woman says the groceries were very insignificant to the extent that they would not have any impact.
Zimbabwean journalist and filmmaker, Hopewell Chin’ono says the war veteran’s message is in resonance to what others have always said, that President Mnangagwa’s regime and ZANU-PF “are not only thieves but CRUEL LOOTERS who drop crumbs on the floor for us whilst dining.”

So sad..it is a whole generation, or generations betrayed by the so called Liberation Struggles in Zimbabwe and across the African continent as this explains why Africa is the richest in human and natural resources yet the poorest and very marginalized and brutalized defenseless populations….still looking for true liberators to come along.
Oh shame! My grandfather didn’t even get that at the end of WW2! He received the pay he was due, a railway pass to get home and a greatcoat! THAT WAS IT! Afterwards, he had to find work and support his family. I’d suggest said war veteran try the same!
As liberation heroes, we are getting a monthly pension though little and we also got land to farm. Yes, our government could have done better, but we cannot isolate ourselves from the povo Zimabweano during these times of hardships. My sister appears offside. I would be surprised if she does not have land for farming, like my A1 plot in Goromonzi district.
