“Sport And Recreation Activities Remain Banned Under Level 2 Lockdown” – Govt

The Permanent Secretary in the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Nick Mangwana has reiterated that sport and recreation activities remain banned under Level 2 Lockdown.

His remarks come after a consultative document by the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation which sought permission for the resumption of sport and recreation activities is circulating on social media.

Posting on Twitter, Mangwana said:

We wish to advise the public that the prohibition of sport and recreation activities under Level 2 Lockdown and Containment measures has NOT been lifted. Thank you.

Below is part of the consultative document by the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation.

Zimbabwe has since the end of March been under the coronavirus-induced lockdown which initially confined all members of the public to their homes.

Only those who were providing essential services were exempted from the lockdown albeit under certain terms and conditions.

The government later eased the lockdown regulations to allow the economy to partially resume operations while most of the activities remain banned.
