DONATE: Family Of The 23 Year Old Zimbabwean Student Who Died In India Start A GoFundMe Campaign To Bring His Body Home

The family of 23-year-old Blessing Muchangwara who died in India on Wednesday has started a gofundme campaign to bring Blessing’s body home. Blessing’s sibling wrote an emotional appeal to well-wishers of how Blessing lived and appealed for well-wishers to help bring Blessing’s body back home to his parents who last saw him 4 years ago:

Hey everyone ,

Please I need your help .

On the 13th of May my brother Blessing Ndaramo Muchangwara passed away on a roadside after a hit and run in India. He died alone , scared and in a foreign country.

Blessing was a 23 year old student studying law in India. He left 4 years ago in 2016 to study and we hadn’t seen him since then. My brother Blessing was a tremendous blessing to me and l never thought that this would have happened to him so sudden. You know when parents send their children to the university they would be assuming that eventually he would graduate and become a registered lawyer.

He would enjoy talking arguing to the extent that in most cases you would just say hey you won buddy and aiti akuseka so wainzwa hasha and we miss that . We have always wanted him to come home but with the prevailing economic challenges we were failing to do that so we are just hoping and praying that God would make a way so that we can bring him home and bury his remains and see his body for the last time…….

We have been told at such short notice we have to raise funds to repatriate his body back Zimbabwe.

It hurts that his life has been cut short in the most unexpected way . We just want to be able to bring him home for the closure of the whole family and to give him his final resting place otherwise the Indian authority will be forced to take action and cremate his body .

Due to the Covid 19 with planes grounded . So far, the Zimbabwean embassy has been so helpful and are trying to organise a Cargo plane to fly him home but they are saying they need money.

With the economy in Zimbabwe failing , it is impossible to raise the amount of funds alone this is the reason for the sincere appeal to the world to help us raise these funds.

We only have 6 days , a generous leeway we have been given by the university hospital mortuary. They have kindly agreed to keep him for a maximum of a week to raise the funds and have have also embalmed his body ready for transportation.

The total sum includes: repatriation to Zimbabwe from India in a cargo plane , Ground transfer in Zimbabwe, food, tents and other funeral expenses. Family members are gathering in Mutare.

Please if you can pass this on or give anything at all my family would really appreciate it.

Thank you
