395 Zimbabweans Return From Botswana As COVID-19 Repatriation Continues

The government of Zimbabwe has announced that 395 Zimbabweans returned from Botswana today as part of Coronavirus repatriation. According to the Ministry of Information Publicity and Broadcasting Secretary, Nick Mangwana, the number includes 15 ex-convicts who were pardoned by the Botswana government.

Said Mangwana:

395 Zimbabweans left Gaborone today for Plumtree. Among the returnees are 15 ex-convicts who were pardoned by President Masisi. Some are coming voluntarily and others have visa challenges.Govt will use the Criminal Justice System to visit those who are in need of its attention.

The Zimbabwean government has been working with other governments in the region as well as private transport operators to facilitate the return of Zimbabweans willing to come home.

South Africa and Botswana have the highest number of Zimbabweans living abroad in the region.
