Govt Urged To Conduct Door-To-Door COVID-19 Testing

Bulawayo residents have urged the government to expedite testing for coronavirus in order to identify infected people and arrest the spread of the virus.

Nokubonga Ncube, a Bulawayo resident told NewZimbabwe.com that health authorities should embark on door-to-door testing for coronavirus. She said:

Testing is going to help because right now we just assume that COVID-19 cases are low and that most people who have tested positive are coming from abroad.

Door-to-door testing is the way to go because the spreading of the virus can be contained as in those with the virus will have a limited chance of transmitting the virus.

Another resident, Dickson Mangena told the publication that there is really a need to test as many people as possible. He said:

If the government has the capacity to do that then it should do that definitely. We really need to test as many people as possible because my assumption is that we have not really tested as much as we should have.

As of 9 May 2020, Zimbabwe had 36 confirmed positive cases for COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by SARS-CoV-2, the new coronavirus.

The disease has infected millions and killed tens of thousands globally.
