Former Kaizer Chiefs Striker Suggests There Might Be Tension Between Billiat And Middendorp

Former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Mark Williams, has suggested that Khama Billiat’s poor form in the 2019/2020 PSL season could be as a result of tension between the Warriors striker and Amakhosi coach, Ernst Middendorp.

The former Sundowns star has this season scored once for Amakhosi and made just 16 appearances in all competitions, missing the entire month of January’s fixtures due to a hamstring injury. Williams suggests something is going on behind the scenes. He said:

If I am the CEO and the boss of Kaizer Chiefs and I pay almost a billion for somebody and he is not playing, I am going to be a bit frustrated and would ask the coach, why… is he not playing?

So meaning that the investment that the club is doing is not good because the coach and the player don’t see eye-to-eye. Is it because of Billiat’s mentality? Because we all know, at the end of the day, Billiat is a good player if he is fit and his mind is right.

Billiat has this season been left out of some crucial matches even when he was available for selection with the coach admitting that “Khama is not happy about coming on as a substitute.”

Middendorp added that there are other players really going all out during the week to make themselves available, something that influences his selection of players.
