Agrippa Bopela Masiyakurima, a founding member and Treasurer General of the People’s Party that was until recently being led by Walter Mzembi has claimed that he is now in control of the party.
This follows the resignation of Walter Mzembi and other party leaders over failure to resolve the party’s internal disputes.
He claimed the leadership of the party in a letter he wrote to Lloyd Msipa, the party’s Secretary-General. We present the letter in full below.
OPEN LETTER TO LLOYD MSIPA
PEOPLE’S PARTY – 08/05/2020
After two other Founder Members of the People’s Party stepped down, I remain the only Founder Member. You and your interim leadership illegally and unconstitutionally took over the Party which you have no clue how it was conceived. You purported to have suspended me, which is null and void.
This letter serves to inform you that I am now in control of the Party and you and your interim leadership stand suspended as I communicated to you already. Please submit all Party records to the party National Organising Secretary whom I have appointed Interim Secretary-General who will advise you of your disciplinary hearing.
Yours sincerely Mr Agrippa B Masiyakurima
Founder Member and Treasurer General
