Nyandoro Auctions His AFCON Memorabilia

Warriors and Mamelodi Sundowns legend Esrom Nyandoro says the auction of his football memorabilia to raise funds to support people of Mzilikazi suburb during the lockdown was a success.

Nyandoro had put up for auction the jersey that he wore at the Warriors’ inaugural African Nations Cup appearance in 2004 in Tunisia as well as the boots that he wore when the Warriors took on Ghana in the 2006 AFCON tournament in Egypt.

A bidder, thought to be Mamelodi Sundowns owner, Patrice Motsepe, underwrote the auction and returned all the items to Nyandoro.

In a post on social media Nyandoro said:

It’s a Monday morning and I have something I’d like to share with you.
1. The Auction was a success and someone who was touched by me sacrificing all the jerseys and boots was touched he bought everything and guess what he did thereafter. He gave me everything back as a gift. This touched my heart more than anything I’ve ever experienced in my life.
2. The birth of something amazing took place The Esrom Nyandoro Foundation.
3. This is only the beginning and I will not do this alone I need to work with people like yourself.
4. Charity begins at home and that’s where we started in Mzilikazi Bulawayo, in the Dusty streets that raised me.
