WATCH: Scores Of Foreign Nationals Receive Food Parcels In South Africa

Scores of foreign nationals who reside in Mooiplaas and Spruit informal settlements in Centurion South Africa on Wednesday morning received food parcels from the United Muslim Forum.

Reports suggest that despite numerous calls on the need for the government to cushion the foreign nationals from the effects of the national lockdown, less or nothing is being done.

The number of Zimbabweans residing in that country is not known with some claiming that the number is between two and three million.

However, Africa Check refutes the claim saying there is no evidence to substantiate the assertion adding that the 2011 Census shows that about 1.7 million “non-South African citizens” live in South Africa and this number includes figures from other countries and not Zimbabwe alone.

Some Zimbabweans have since returned to Zimbabwe while some have also applied to be repatriated as the lockdown has worsened their economic conditions.
