India To Donate COVID-19 Medicines And 1000 Tonnes Of Rice To Zimbabwe
India has reportedly donated COVID-19 medicines to Zimbabwe valued at US $400 000 and the consignment is reportedly already in the country, while the second donation of 1000 tonnes of rice worth $1.6 million is expected to land soon, ZBC News reports.
According to the publication:
This Wednesday India’s ambassador to Zimbabwe announced a package of essential medicines that include chloroquine and hydroxyl chloroquine sulphate tablets among others worth two million United States dollars, donated by India to the government of Zimbabwe.
Feedback103 tonnes of the essential drugs worth 400 hundred thousand united states dollars are already in the country while the remaining medicines worth 1,6 million united states dollars are expected soon.
While thanking the Indian government for the donation, President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe and India have enjoyed diplomatic relations for years. India in donating the rice said it aimed to boost the country’s food security.
