Youth Pressure Group Pushes For Majome's Removal From ZACC
The Zimbabwe National Youth Advocacy Group (ZNYAG), a youth pressure group, has petitioned National Assembly Speaker, Jacob Mudenda, requesting the immediate removal of Jessie Majome as Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) commissioner.
This comes after the Supreme Court recently ruled that the opposition MDC-T should revert to its 2014 structures and hold an extraordinary congress to elect a substantive president to replace the late Morgan Tsvangirai.
Majome was elected/appointed to the MDC-T National Executive in 2014, holding the post of Deputy Secretary for Legal Affairs and the Supreme Court ruling reinstated her to the position.
According to ZNYAG, it is a misnomer for Majome to be ZACC commissioner and active politician at the same time. The group wrote to Mudenda:
We understand the judgment has the effect of reinstating the 2014 MDC leadership structures. If our interpretation is correct, then it means that all the people who were members of the MDC in 2014 including Madame Jessie Majome who as the Deputy Secretary of Legal Affairs have been restored to their former positions and are now members and leaders of the MDC-T.

We have no direct interest in the political affairs of the parties involved but we have found it necessary to hint to your office the effect that the said judgment has on Madame Jessie Majome’s membership status in the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.
Majome left the MDC Alliance in 2018 and stood as an independent candidate for the Harare West National Assembly seat in the election held in the same year.
She lost to the Alliance’s Joanna Mamombe and was subsequently appointed to ZACC by President Emmerson Mnangagwa.
