Mayors No Longer Have Executive Powers To Make Any Decisions, Govt Is In Charge - MDC Distances Itself From Vending Stalls Demolition

The Nelson Chamisa led MDC has distanced itself from the vending stalls demolition debacle that played out on social media after the City Fathers reportedly started demolishing vending stall during the lockdown, New Zimbabwe reports.

Nelson Chamisa’s spokesperson Nkululeko Sibanda said the MDC run council did not direct its workers to demolish vending stalls.

Said Sibanda in response to the demolition of vending stalls:

This is not council’s directive or work. Government is in charge and the mayors no longer have executive powers to make any decisions. This is cruel. MDC would never do that to its supporters

The MDC runs 28 out of 32 Councils in the country.
