WATCH: Malawians Protest Against Lockdown Due To Start On April 18

A video is circulating on various social media platforms showing hundreds of Malawians protesting in the streets against a lockdown that will be in effect from April 18 to May 9.

Malawi announced the three-week lockdown to try and curb the spread of the novel coronavirus which causes COVID-19, joining other southern African countries like South Africa, Angola, Botswana and Zimbabwe.

Reports indicate that Malawians are protesting against the lockdown because the government has no social security benefits put in place so people are without incomes, food and other basics.
