Shabanie Mine FC Fall On Hard Times

Former Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Shabanie Mine has fallen on hard times after they failed to register with the Central Region Division One.

The Zvishavane-based team, which pulls bigger crowds that premiership champions FC Platinum, also based in Zvishavane, has been surviving on donations from well-wishers since its relegation from the top-flight.

Central Region chairperson Stanley Chapeta revealed that Shabanie Mine and Real BVM are the only two teams which have failed to beat the March 31 deadline to register with the league. He said:

A total of 16 teams had affiliated by the end of last week. Shabanie Mine and Real BVM have not yet registered.

Real BVM was still deciding to register, but we will only know when they come forth.

Chapungu are not yet sure if they will be with us, but of the three teams, we will only be able to accommodate two. If none of them comes forth, we will work with the available teams.

Hurricanes, TelOne and Talen Vision are some of the teams that successfully affiliated with the Central Region according to Chapeta.
