WATCH: Zimbabwe Police Confiscate Goods Belonging To "Lockdown-Defying" Vendors

Zimbabwe Republic Police in Mutare have this Friday confiscated vegetables belonging to vendors whom they said were defying the national lockdown that was imposed to stop the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.

President Emmerson Mnangagwa, while announcing the lockdown said that citizens are allowed to leave their homes only if they want to access essential services including food and medication.

Absence of farmers in Mbare Market in Harare has reportedly exacerbated starvation to many citizens who depended on the farmers for vegetables and other farm products.
