Prominent Zimbabwean journalist, Hopewell Chin’ono has said that the number of people who tested positive for coronavirus in Zimbabwe has this Thursday gone up.
He however did not divulge as to how many more cases had tested positive saying that he was waiting for the Ministry of Health and Child Care to announce the development.
Posting on Twitter, Chin’onoo said:
Waiting for the @MoHCCZim to announce today’s Covid-19 results. What I can tell you is that they have gone up. There is also a private facility now providing testing in Borrowdale. I would encourage those with symptoms to get tested. As I predicted, more testing, more cases.
some are however pessimistic saying that the government will not announce the results as nothing was reported on yesterday’s results “when it is fully known that some government officials publicly broadcasted themselves being tested.”
Earlier this Thursday, the Ministry of Health announced that the number of cases remained at 8.

I am not too sure that lockdown will work in Africa. It might be better to go for herd immunity although it will cost many lives. African countries cannot afford to mirror the west as the cure maybe worse then the illness especially if we end up with food shortages and the like.
