Hotel Occupancy Steeply Plunges Due To COVID-19 - Report

Hotel occupancy has reportedly plummeted to below 20% amid growing fears that some businesses will be forced out of business as the country tries to curb spreading COVID-19, The Zimbabwe Independent reports.

This was revealed by the tourism minister Mangaliso Ndlovu who spoke to Business Digest and said:

A lot of hotels are operating below 20%. The situation is really bad. There are high prospects of closure of companies, in some cases, due to failure to pay rentals because of lack of business.

Meanwhile, Cresta Group has announced its decision to halt operations at 5 of its hotels from April To July 2020 in response to the coronavirus pandemic.
