FULL TEXT: Government Allows Delta To Operate During The 21 Days Lockdown

The Government has written the following letter to Delta Beverages in response to the request made by Delta to be exempted from shutting down during the lockdown.

RE: COVIO 19 RESPONSE — ESSENTIAL PRODUCTs AND SERVICES PROVISION In response to the COVID-19 outbreak,

His Excellency, the President issued a State of the Nation update address on the pandemic on the 27th of March 2020. In the same address, the President indicated the need for essential services to continue operating during the lockdown as guided by Statutory Instrument 82 of 2020 Public Health, (COVID 19 Prevention, Containment and Treatment) (Amendment) Regulations 2020 (No.1) and SI 83 of 2020 Public Health, (COVID 19 Prevention, Containment and Treatment) (National Lockdown) Order 2020.

It is therefore in line with the above that your company has been exempted from the 21 day lockdown and designated as an essential service provider. In view of that, you will be required to adhere to the minimum health standards as promulgated by the Ministry of Health and Child Care through S.I 82 of 2020 and Si 83 of 2020.

To this end, your company is required to operate with minimurn but adequate staff as you aim to continue provision of essential services. Please note that all retailers will be strictly required to operate between 0900hrs and 1500hrs.

Dr. M. Sibanda Secretary for Industry and Commerce
