Two Police Officers Steal 30 Tonnes Of Gold Ore In Mazowe

Two police officers have been arrested after they allegedly stole 30 tonnes of gold ore at Jumbo Mine, Mazowe in Mashonaland Central province.

It is alleged that the accused, Constable Shemmy Machaye (34) and Restropect Sumani (28) on February 10 connived to steal the gold from Marondera Farm near Jumbo Mine, Mazowe.

The duo reportedly threatened the 23-year-old guard at the farm and ordered him (Solomon Dube) to leave the point of guard.

They then hired a Hino truck, loaded the gold ore dump into the truck and left the scene. The loot belonged to a licenced miner Denford Suntile.

It is further alleged that the police were tipped off about the looting leading to Machaye’s arrest on Monday and cases were recorded at ZRP Mazowe and CID MFFU Bindura.
