COVID-19: Govt To Make Decision On Public Gatherings

The Zimbabwe government is expected to make a decision on public gatherings in the wake of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak when the Cabinet meets on Tuesday.

Several governments in Africa and across the world have taken drastic measures to curb the spread of the highly infectious disease by closing borders, restricting travel and banning public gatherings such as sporting events.

Zimbabwe has not yet taken any such drastic measures as it has not recorded a single confirmed case of the disease.

Premier Soccer League (PSL) spokesperson Kudzai Bare said they will stand guided by today’s Cabinet decision. She said:

At the moment we haven’t had any reason to panic because we have no confirmed cases of the coronavirus. On the way forward, we stand guided by the authorities’ resolve.
