Chamisa's 'Top Allies' To Avoid Primaries
MDC president Nelson Chamisa has discouraged party councillors aspiring to be Members of Parliament from challenging sitting MPs, saying the move would destabilise the party.
Chamisa made the remarks while addressing MDC councillors during the party’s smart city summit in Harare last Wednesday. He said:
Don’t harass our MPs by challenging them in primaries. Do not use your proximity to the people to cause destabilisation.
FeedbackThe move will likely be resisted by some party members as it is considered a ploy by Chamisa to ring-fence his current legislators, most of whom are his top allies.
Chamisa urged the councillors to focus on improving service delivery and ensure that people’s right to water, shelter and other rights are observed.
