MDC Alliance Bulawayo Blocks Bulawayo Mayor & 5 Other Councillors From Accessing Party Offices

A faction reportedly opposed to the town clerk’s contract renewal has reportedly banned the Bulawayo Mayor and 5 other councillors for renewing the town clerk who they accuse of being linked to Zanu PF‘s contract, The Chronicle reports.

Mayor Solomon Mguni had confirmed that Christoper Dube, the town clerk’s contract has been extended by 5 years.

According to to the party’s provincial spokesperson Mr Chiworodza:

Bulawayo province is distancing itself from renewal of the Town Clerk’s contract. The position of the party was that the job is floated and those with the relevant qualifications apply. We will not endorse the renewal of the contract of the Town Clerk as he is linked to Zanu-PF.

As a result, those behind the renewal of the Town Clerk’s contract will not be allowed to access the provincial offices until they reverse that decision
