Broadcasting (Listeners’ Licences) (Fees) Notice, 2020
THE Zimbabwe Broadcasting Holdings, with the approval of the Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, hereby makes the following notice, in terms of section 38B(2) of the Broadcasting Services Act (Chapter 12:06):
Title 1. This notice may be cited as the Broadcasting (Listeners Licences) (Fees) Notice, 2020.
Interpretation
2.(1) In this notice”licences regulations” means the Broadcasting (Listeners’
Licences) Regulations, 2003.
(2) Any expression to which a meaning has been assigned in the licences regulations shall bear the same meaning when used in this notice.Fee for licences
3. (1) The fee payable for a licence issued to a listener for a receiver in terms of the licences regulations, or for the renewal of such a licence, shall be
(a) in the case of a listener’s licence (sound-rural), 25ZWL
dollars per quarter or part thereof;
(b) in the case of a listener’s licence (sound-urban),50ZWL
dollars per quarter or part thereof;
(c)in the case of a listener’s licence (sound and television), 100 ZWL dollars per quarter or part thereof;
(d) in the case of a listener’s licence (sound-business premises), 450 ZWL dollars per quarter or part thereof;
(e) in the case of a listener’s licence (television-business premises), 1000ZWL dollars per quarter or part thereof;
(f) in the case of a listener’s licence (sound-private vehicle). 300 ZWL dollars per quarter or part thereof;
(g) in the case of a listener’s licence(sound-employer-owned vehicle), 600 ZWL dollars per quarter or part thereof;
(h) in the case of a listener’s licence (sound and television vehicle), 1 000 ZWL dollars per quarter or part thereof;
(i) in the case of a listener’s concessionary licence, nil.(2) A listener may pay any fee referred to in subsection (1) in Euros, British Pounds, South African Rand or Botswana Pula at the international cross rate of exchange of the currency in question for the ZWL dollar, rounded downwards or upwards to the nearest multiple of ten.
(3) The licence fees referred to in subsection (1) shall be reviewed bi-annually.

And yet another exception to the SI 142. So far, the tourist industry, fuel outlets who have the forex, passport office, ZBC. Not to mention the hordes of retailers – formal or otherwise – who are ignoring SI 142. And most telling, the multitude of money changers in the CBD, the borders, and anywhere else one may care to think of. Why is this happening? becuase they are allowed to. Why? Weel, that’s the $100 (USD of course) question.
