MISA Zimbabwe Condemns Harassment Of NewsDay Reporter

A NewsDay journalist was on 6 March 2020 reportedly taken to task by a ZANU PF politician at a party meeting in Mvurwi.

ZANU PF Mashonaland Central chairperson Kazembe Kazembe demanded that the reporter, Simbarashe Sithole, explain a story about an alleged rift between MPs and war veterans in the province.

Sithole had written a story published in the NewsDay which claimed that there was a conflict between war veterans and MPs in the province.

MISA Zimbabwe said the incident constitutes intimidation and harassment of journalists and called political parties and members of the public to use civilised ways to express their grievances if they are unhappy with contents of a published story.
