Econet Wireless, the largest mobile telecoms operator in Zimbabwe, has announced that it will be reviewing its internet data prices upwards effective tomorrow, 11 March 2020.
The company advised its customer via SMS:
Dear Customer. Please take note, bundle prices for Data & SMS will be reviewed effective 11 March 2020. Dial *143# to buy Data or *140# to buy SMS Bundles.
The price review follows an accelerated drop in value of the Zimbabwean local currency against the USD on the parallel market. This week, the rate has reached a high of 1:35. Just a month ago, the rate was 1:26.
