PICTURES: Stanley Square In Deplorable State

The Chronicle has reported that Stanley Square, one of the institutions associated with the development stage of the country’s liberation movement, in Bulawayo’s Makokoba suburb is in a serious state of disrepair.

The recreational centre was built in 1936. The centre, Stanley Hall and Stanley Square was declared a Heritage Site by the Government due to its its iconic and historical status..

The Chronicle further reports that its crew on Wednesday encountered tall grass, at some portions totally concealing the concrete benches while in some partly covering them with some trees growing in between them.

The recreational centre is administered by the Bulawayo City Council.
