Ronaldinho Being Held In Paraguay Over Fake Passport Allegations
Former Brazilian hot pepper player Ronaldinho is being held in Paraguay for entering the country with a fake passport, BBC News reports.
Ronaldinho whose Brazilian and Spanish passports were confiscated because of tax issues had entered Brazil to promote a book and a campaign for underprivileged children when the Paraguay authorities started investigating him and his brother.
Speaking to AFP, a Paraguay Minister Euclides Acevedo said:
Ronaldinho will be heard at eight in the morning on Thursday at the prosecutor’s office. I respect his sporting popularity but the law must also be respected. No matter who you are, the law still applies
Euclides Acevedo also said Ronaldo was not arrested but is under investigation.
