Auditor General, ZACC Partner To Investigate NetOne

The Auditor-General’s office and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission are reportedly investigating state-owned telecommunications giants, NetOne over alleged corruption by the board.

Zim Morning Post was told by an anonymous insider who is privy to the information that the development was triggered by an audit which alleged that the suspended former chief executive, Lazarus Muchenje and his finance manager had engaged in underhand dealings including embezzlement of funds. The anonymous source said:

Zacc, together with AG Mildred Chiri, is launching an investigation on the entity following recent cases of alleged corruption within the board lately.

Muchenje and his finance manager are also alleged to have unilaterally implemented some of the decisions that had not been approved by the board.

They are also accused of having bought fuel from the parallel market where it was expensive and above the ZERA-approved prices.
