27000 Tonnes Of Relief Maize For Zimbabwe Arrives In Maputo

27 thousand tonnes of relief maize meant for Zimbabwe has just arrived in Maputo and the government is making efforts to make sure the maize reaches Zimbabwe as soon as possible, The Chronicle reports.

This was confirmed by National Railways of Zimbabwe spokesperson Mr Nyasha Maravanyika who said:

As we speak there is a ship that will dock this afternoon (yesterday) in Maputo and the maize will be delivered into the country soon.

From the 15 000 tonnes that is in Maputo we have railed 8 369 tonnes leaving a balance of 6 631. We have 57 wagons that have arrived in Bulawayo, another 29 at Chicualacuala, 65 are at Rutenga while nine are at Dabuka.

Zimbabwe is experiencing a dire mealie meal shortage that has left the country queuing for a 10kg bag of mealie meal at supermarkets.
