Court Allows CUT Database Hacking Student To Attend A Hackathon In Switzerland

A Chinhoyi Univesity student who hacked the results database of his school and altered his results and those of 7 other students has been given the green light to attend a hackathon in Switzerland after he won the POTRAZ hackathon in Kadoma earlier this month.

According to the Herald Tatenda Christopher Chinyamakobvu (20) will attend the international hackathon in Switzerland after his lawyer convinced the Chinhoyi magistrate to relax his bail conditions.

Lawyer Mr Tungamirai Chamutsa applied for bail again on changed circumstances, telling the court that Chinyamakobvu needed to undertake preparations to represent Zimbabwe at the International Hackathon competition in Switzerland.

Mr Chamutsa argued that Chinyamakobvu was not a flight risk as the State was catering for his travel expenses and stay in Switzerland.

Chinyamakobvu who is facing 8 charges of hacking and is out on $150 bail reportedly altered the results of some of his colleagues and charged them for his services.
