'GMB Bosses Selling Subsidized Maize To Congo'

Members of Parliament on Tuesday heard that the Grain Marketing Board (GMB)’s senior executives were involved in the allocation of subsidised maize to some millers beyond their plants’ capacity.

The undeserving millers would then divert the maize onto the black market and neighbouring countries as far as the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

A senior GMB executive, Lawrence Jasi, has been identified as the culprit in the underhand maize dealings.

The Parliamentary portfolio committee on Lands, Agriculture, Water, Climate and Resettlement chaired by Gokwe Nembudziya Justice Mayor Wadyajena (Zanu-PF) heard that trucks from the DRC would offload copper in South Africa and then load the maize in Harare on their return to the Congo.
