Founder Of South African Choral Group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo Has Died

Professor Joseph Shabalala the founder of popular South Africa Choral group, Ladysmith Black Mambazo has died.

Shabalala helped introduce Zulu music to the world and would’ve turned 79 this year. He retired from the choral group in 2014 and had been in poor health since an unsuccessful back operation.

The group achieved global recognition after singing ‘Homeless’ on Paul Simon’s Graceland album, a song Shabalala co-wrote with Simon, based on the melody for a traditional Zulu wedding song.
