"It's Difficult To Deal With Cartels Due To Protection From ZACC, The Media And Political Parties..." Prosecutor General

Prosecutor General, Kumbirai Hodzi has said that dealing with cartels in the country is a mammoth task due to the protection they get from the media, political parties and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission.

State-run Radio Sation, Star FM alleges that Hodzi said that cartels have “captured various institutions including the Police and Judiciary.” The radio station added:

He made the remarks this morning in Bulawayo during a capacity building workshop on anti-corruption for POLAD Economic Thematic Committee. ……….for more details tune into @StarfmZimbabwe for the 6 pm news bulletin.

These remarks come when the nation is claiming that Sakunda Holdings boss, Kuda Tagwirei who is alleged to be one of the cartels is being protected by political elites in the ruling ZANU PF.

These remarks are said following the suspension of former ZANU PF Youth League deputy secretary Lewis Matutu and Political Commissar Godfrey Tsenengamu from the party for “violating party code of conduct” after they named Tagwirei among the corrupt people who were choking efforts to revive the economy.

A few weeks ago, the Sakunda boss bought luxurious vehicles for Vice President Constantino Chiwenga, a gesture which was viewed by some as indicative of the influence Tagwirei wields over political elites and other institutions in the country.
