The coronavirus’ single-day death toll has reached a new high following the death of 86 people, including one US citizen in Wuhan China during a one-day period ending Saturday morning.
The virus which was first discovered in China in December last year is taking a toll on the Asian country and other parts of the world.
The American Embassy in Beijing announced on Saturday that the 60-year-old American died February 6 as the death toll rises in China to 722 while new cases jumped to 34,546.
U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced on Friday that the USA was donating hundreds of millions to China and other affected countries as a demonstration of the country’s strong leadership in response to the outbreak.
The World Health Organization has declared the coronavirus outbreak a global health emergency and is appealing for $675 million to fight the virus.
