Midlands Province Minister Of State Dismiss Reports Circulating That 20 Miners Were Trapped After A Mine Collapsed In Kwekwe

The Midlands province minister of state, Mr Larry Mavima while touring the Globe and Phoenix Mine in Kwekwe where 2 illegal miners lost their lives after a rock fell on them on Wednesday, dismissed reports circulating that 20 people were feared dead after they were trapped when the mine collapsed.

Speaking at the mine after the tour, Mavima said;

First of all, I want to dispel the misinformation that there were over twenty people trapped here in this mine. It is not 20 but 2 people, but still 2 lives is just too many, we have been having too many problems in as far as these illegal mining operations are concerned all over the country and it is time we put a stop to this.

It headlined on Friday that there had been a mine collapse in Kwekwe and 20 people were feared dead as they were trapped underground while 2 people were confirmed dead after the aciident occured.
