Government Considering Repossessing Underutilized Farms
The government is mulling repossessing underutilised farms and relocate them to other potential beneficiaries, The Herald reports:
This was revealed in an interview with the Lands, Agriculture, Water and Rural Settlement Minister, Perence Shiri who said:
The time will come when the Government may really consider taking back all underutilised land and allocate it to other potential users.
FeedbackWe expect every farmer who has been allocated land to utilise it, that is why Government came up with various schemes for the farmers, some can now go to financial institutions and borrow money we have got some that are now forthcoming.
Some farms have remained idle since the infamous land reform in the early 2000s.
