US Embassy Meets POLAD Members, Zimbabweans Question The Gesture
The US Embassy in Harare met with POLAD members yesterday according to the former. This was revealed in a tweet by the Embassy which reads:
We met with POLAD members yesterday and look forward to continuing engagement on issues of development, good governance, and economic stability for Zimbabwe.
Zimbabweans on Twitter, however, questioned why The US was meeting with POLAD. Here is how Zimbabweans reacted to the meeting:
Can you explain this serious contradiction- Polad does not even exist in the constitution of Zimbabwe, how do you discuss Zim national development issues with an illegal club formed out of one of the worst crimes of humanity in 2018? Have US embassy staff been bribed by ED?

What changes/benefits are going to come from you meeting POLAD? Is POLAD an arm of government? Are they worth your audience? Stop wasting time with regime puppets masquerading as opposition & who don’t even have 1% of the electorate behind them.

t’s a sad day when this charlatan board of unelected representatives of unelectable opposition whose sole purpose is to represent @edmnangagwa and legitimise his election theft gets international recognition.
POLAD as part of its 2020 Agenda seeks to engage with the western community to end Zimbabwe’s 2 decades of isolation.
