Zimbabwean Comedienne, Mai Titi, Abused On Facebook Over Her HIV Status

Zimbabwean comedienne, Mai Titi, is probably the latest victim of HIV and Aids stigmatisation after a woman only identified as Patience Cele sent a Facebook message to Mai Titi’s new-found lover, Zizo asking what his relatives had to say about the comedienne’s HIV positive status. The woman said:

Hi educate me please what does your parents say dating someone who is positive and everyone in Zim knows good luck.

Mai Titi, born Felistas Maruta could not stomach the abuse and she broke down during her Thursday Facebook Live. She said that it was cruel of people to discriminate against her because of a medical condition. She mourned:

People don’t have hearts, people would laugh when someone is dying. How can you laugh at someone because of a condition that you might just get.

All of you sleep around you are just lucky because you don’t know your status that is if you even know your status. A lot of women are dying inside.

Mai Titi disclosed her HIV positive status in 2018 and accused her former husband, Tapiwa Mutikani of deliberately infecting her.

Earlier this month, Mai Titi and her Bweru-based young lover Blessed Zingwe aka Zizoe made their relationship public.

  1. hi patience cele, please educate us on whats wrong with being hiv positive and what your parents say about you being hiv negative (assuming that you are negative). ps: its “whats do your parents say” & not “what does your parents say.”

  2. it matters not ……hiv positive is just a status …not the end of life ..so vanodanana ngavadanane zvavo …and mai titi siyana navo mahaters vanorwadziwa newe…
