Following Aston Villa’s crucial 2-1 win against Watford last night, BBC Sport has named Aston Villa midfielder Marvelous Nakamba as the man of the match.
The publication observed that the Zimbabwean international performance was very essential for the Blue and Claret army. BBC Sport said:
Marvelous Nakamba provided a vital defensive shield in Aston Villa’s midfield as he made two tackles, two clearances, gained possession 11 times, had a pass completion rate of 82% and won 60% of his duels.
Nakamba, who is regaining his impressive form, played until stoppage time. The victory takes Villa up from 18th to 16th while Watford drop into the bottom three and are now 19th after being 17th before the match.
Villa coach Dean Smith said that the players had a “good performance,” and “were unfortunate to go a goal down as they scored with their first attack.”
I have been a Villa fan for over 40 years and I am pleased to see some marvelous players combining in from Africa . I am also pleased to see my beloved Aston villa getting more press coverage around the world . The one thing I’d like to point out are the colours . Aston Villa play in claret and blue (claret shirts with sky blue trim and shorts) many clubs have taken these colours as a direct result of Aston villa history . A minor thing in the grand scheme of things but important to villa fans 😁
Great, at least he was voted by BBC and not by fans, well done Nakamba
