Teachers Against The ‘Hitlerisation & Zanunisation’ Of Their Profession

The Progressive Teachers Union of Zimbabwe (PTUZ) has castigated the ruling ZANU PF party for planning to indoctrinate teachers with its ideology.

PTUZ president Takavafira Zhou recently spoke against ZANU PF’s machinations after a letter signed by Chitepo Ideological School principal, Munyaradzi Machacha was leaked to the media. Said Zhou:

Zanu PF is contemplating on Hitlerisation and Zanunisation of the teaching profession by demanding that prospective teachers should first go through the Chitepo School of Ideology.

In the letter dated December 19, 2019, Machacha directed to all provincial chairpersons to submit a list of names of all party members who had completed teacher training and were awaiting employment by the government to undergo a basic orientation course at the Chitepo Ideological School.

The School is currently domiciled at Zanu PF headquarters in Harare but its tutors sometimes travel to various provinces conducting indoctrination lessons.
