Live Ammunition And Tear Gas Disperse Iran Protests Over Ukranian Plane Downed By Iran Army

Iranian security forces reportedly fired live ammunition and tear gas onto street protestors who were angry with the downing of a Ukranian plane by the Iranian army.

The plane crashed killing all 176 passengers (mostly Iranian and Iranian-Canadian citizens) and crew on board.

Iran authorities have been denying responsibility saying that the plane court fire amid air before it crashed. The Middle East country was however forced to admit to downing the plane following the discovery of missile warheads and the admission triggered public outrage and protests.

The plane was downed hours after the Iranian government had attacked two US bases in Iraq following the USA killed Iranian Quds commander, Qassem Soeimani.

It is believed that Iran expected that after an attack on USA bases, the US would respond therefore the Iranian army mistook the Ukranian plane to be a USA plane and shot it down.

The anti-government protests over the plane crash started on Sunday as a mere candlelight vigil at a university with students accusing the government of lying that the country’s enemy “is America! Our enemy is right here!”

The protesters then marched into Tehran’s Azadi, or Freedom, Square before security forces dispersed them.
