Prominent Zimbabwean journalist and documentary filmmaker, Hopewell Chin’ono has said that the opposition MDC must not dwell on president Mnangagwa’s illegitimacy but rather should focus on addressing the people’s grievances.
He said that the Ian Smith-led government was illegitimate but the liberation movements, ZANU and ZAPU chose to address the people’s grievances instead of trying to address Smith’s legitimacy.
He posted on Twitter saying:
Ian Smith & the Rhodesian regime were illegitimate.
However ZANU & ZAPU addressed the people’s grievances, issue by issue!
The MDC must go beyond ILLEGITIMACY & deal with issues!
Civil society must go beyond workshops in tourist attractions/per diems & educate the rural masses
His remarks come when the MDC has since 2018 refused to acknowledge Mnangagwa as the legitimate president of the country saying that he stole the elections.
The party MDC have been boycotting Parliament events which president Mnangagwa attended.
Ignorance has may fathers…..so has utter stupidity and folly!!!
Is blacks did not know what was legitimate or not when smith was there but Ed the liberation hero knows all too well
what do you want them to do fight when zanu has suppkrt of Sadc Au who cbose for to kee quite while we suffer
