ZANU PF MP, Senior Cop In Court Over Illegal Gold Mining
A ZANU PF MP, Dexter Nduna, and two accomplices were arrested on allegations of extracting gold ore at the David Whitehead waste deposit site in Chegutu.
Nduna, ZANU PF Mashonaland West provincial youth chairman Vengai Musengi and police acting officer commanding Chegutu District Superintendent Wonder Chisikwa took the gold ore a day before a machete attackers’ leader was shot dead by police.
Tatenda Gwinji, who is the Chegutu Rural District Council chairman, was also arrested in connection to the case.
Nduna, Musengi, Chisikwa and Gwinji on Tuesday appeared at Chegutu Magistrates’ Court facing charges of prospecting for gold without a licence.
Nduna and Chisikwa were separately charged for abuse of office and were remanded to January 21.

Chisikwa, Musengi and Gwinji were jointly charged with Tawanda Marufu and Nyasha Nyikadzino. They were remanded on their own recognisance out of custody to January 24.
