Kwekwe Pastor Calls For Prayers To Tame ‘MaShurugwi’

A religious leader based in the city of Kwekwe, Midlands Province, has called for prayer to end machete gang violence that has seemingly spiralled out of control.

Prophet Effort Maphosa of Grace Abound Church told journalists that the machete gangs members are involved in some kind of occult and only prayers can end the scourge of violence. He said:

Most of these people in terror gangs are into cults. They belong to powerful cults and the best way to counter occultism is through prayer. Our police need God to fight these gangs.

As long as we do not pray divinity will never intervene. When we pray God will intervene in this situation.

A police officer was recently killed by a machete gang known as “Team Barca” while guarding a mine in Battlefields, Kadoma.

Nine people, including a 14-year-old boy, have so far been arrested in connection with the case.
